Obama Admin Signed Secret Deal to Lift UN Sanctions Against Iranian Banks

Another secret kept from the American people by the lawless obama administration. If it wasn't bad enough to learn about the ransom payment made in foreign cash in the middle of the night, the regime went ahead with lifting banking sanctions with the Iranians! Obama is more or less arming and bankrolling Iran's nuclear weapons program at this point. Good job Congress, you're doing heck of a job protecting the homeland by keeping a check on the Executive Branch.

U.S. Signed Secret Document to Lift U.N. Sanctions on Iranian Banks

WASHINGTON—The Obama administration agreed to back the lifting of United Nations sanctions on two Iranian state banks blacklisted for financing Iran’s ballistic-missile program on the same day in January that Tehran released four American citizens from prison, according to U.S. officials and congressional staff briefed on the deliberations.

The U.N. sanctions on the two banks weren’t initially to be lifted until 2023, under a landmark nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers that went into effect on Jan. 16.

The U.N. Security Council’s delisting of the two banks, Bank Sepah and Bank Sepah International, was part of a package of tightly scripted agreements—the others were a controversial prisoner swap and transfer of $1.7 billion in cash to Iran—that were finalized between the U.S. and Iran on Jan. 17, the day the Americans were freed.

The new details of the delisting have emerged after administration officials briefed lawmakers earlier this month on the U.S. decision.

According to senior U.S. officials, a senior State Department official, Brett McGurk, and a representative of the Iranian government signed three documents in Geneva on the morning of Jan. 17.

Deputy State Dept Spox Has No Idea Who in Iran Took Possession of $400M

Along with admitting the $400M was a ransom payment only to claim it was "leverage" last week, today, Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner added insult to injury having no idea who in Iran took possession of the money!

Toner believes the admin knows but does anyone believe that? Does anyone really believe the obama admin knows exactly who took possession of OUR money? For all we know Hamas, Hezbollah and ISIS "representatives" could have been present too and divvied up the money! This deal is so wrong at so many levels, that money belongs to the American people bad arms deal 40 years ago or not.

The US has spent/ lost that much in blood and treasure dealing with Iran and fighting proxy war with them. At the least the 60 US citizens and embassy diplomats held hostage for 444 days by Iran should be entitled to some of that money!

"we announced these payments in January, many months ago, there wasn't a secret we announced them to all of you"

Hm! Then why is the State Dept's spokesman John Kirby more or less admitting the $400M was a ransom payment?!

US Says $400M Payment Was Contingent on Release of Prisoners

Now another big question not being answered is WHERE did the white house get the $400m in cash to handover to Iran? Under Article 1 Section 9 Congress must approve of withdrawal of funds:
No money shall be drawn from the treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law; and a regular statement and account of receipts and expenditures of all public money shall be published from time to time.

Don't hold your breath for Congress to do anything about this they are impotent, incompetent and irreverent under this Banana Republic.

The obama regime airlifted $400 million cash in Euros, Swiss Francs and other currencies on pallets to get American prisoners freed allegedly "to settle an old failed arms deal". So much for US policy not to negotiate with terrorists as this was most likely a ransom being paid by the worst admin in US history! The obama regime time after time bows down to our enemies setting a dangerous precedent that we can be bullied and manipulated into submission. This is why we are not respected around the world and our enemies are emboldened.

$400 million sent to Iran as U.S. prisoners released, raising questions

WASHINGTON—The Obama administration secretly organized an airlift of $400 million worth of cash to Iran that coincided with the January release of four Americans detained in Tehran, according to U.S. and European officials and congressional staff briefed on the operation afterward.

Wooden pallets stacked with euros, Swiss francs and other currencies were flown into Iran on an unmarked cargo plane, according to these officials. The U.S. procured the money from the central banks of the Netherlands and Switzerland, they said.

The money represented the first installment of a $1.7 billion settlement the Obama administration reached with Iran to resolve a decades-old dispute over a failed arms deal signed just before the 1979 fall of Iran’s last monarch, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi..more
