Yes, drugs are being recovered at ports of entry (432K pounds), but as these experts attest there is just as much if not more (at least 476K pounds) coming across the border between ports of entry, in unsecured locations. You see there's always two-sides to a story.
It is abundantly clear the left will do everything in their power to make the southern border open. Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace got destroyed by, White House senior policy advisor, Stephen Miller over when it is appropriate and legal for a president to invoke National Emergency act. Leftists seem to think Trump does not have the legal authority to declare the border crisis a national emergency where Wallace attempted to make the case against. In under a minute Miller explained the facts to Wallace vs his, and majority of progressives, interpretation ruled by their feelings. Frankly, Miller pounced on Wallace for the entire 10 min segment demonstrating how much of a light-weight Wallace really is.
Like it or not POTUS per law PASSED BY CONGRESS has the legal authority to take the necessary action under the Nat'l Emergency Act. Funny NONE of them had a problem when obama invoked it countless times on matters that didnt even concern US national security. Hell they didn't care in general when he blatantly violating the Constitution to advance his agenda when he couldn't get any Congressional support.
All the people who said over the years there is a crisis on the border have done a complete 180° when Trump started agreeing and using their language, making it clear he would actually do something. Political Activist FAKE NEWS propagator Jim Acosta had his bluff called today during Pres Trump's Rose Garden address announcing his National Emergency declaration to build the border wall. Acosta questioned POTUS whether the crisis was "concocted" where Trump took him to task telling him to ask the Angel Moms (he trivialized before the presser saying their children were "allegedly" killed by undocumented immigrants) if their dead children were fake!
After the presser ended the Angel Moms surrounded and confronted Acosta and most likely made it clear their dead children are not fake. Their children were in fact killed by illegal aliens, or as Acosta likes to call them undocumented immigrants*.
After trivializing the deaths before the presser in vid above, the hack had the audacity to be sympathetic to the Moms!

The media does not care about those who fall victim to their precious undocumented immigrants. They are complicit with the democrat party to do everything possible to see this country is overran with illegals, turning it into one giant California under one party rule.

After a border deal was agreed on Nancy Pelosi was asked about Trump's response that he will sign the deal but also declare a National Emergency in order to get the funding he needs to build a border wall. Pelosi said the dems may file a legal challenge and that they will review their options. After trivializing the legitimate crisis on the border, with illegals (aka future democrat voters) entering, drugs flowing across fueling the opioid crisis as well as illegal weapons, the Speaker issued a veil threat that a future "democratic president can declare emergencies as well." She continued by reminding people that Feb 14th is also the 1 year anniversary of the Parkland shooting, stressing there is a gun violence crisis going on right now suggesting that future dem president would take action against guns!
Let's be clear on what this means, a democrat POTUS invoking National Emergency for gun control, or dems other obsession climate change, doesn't mean drastic shock an awe event like gun confiscations. There is no provision in the Act for such an action. But what people must be careful of is how dems always do take action that goes around the limits of a law, where they could take a big chunk out of the Second Amendment like ALL the laws they've BEEN PASSING over the years chipping 2A away! They'll find a back door to restrict access, ammo, a way to impose exuberant fees or taxes (this is always an option, they're practically doing it in CA).
We're in the post obama age, meaning ANYTHING is possible, BUT the democrats KNOW they dare not take direct action against 2A be it a gun ban or confiscation. They would do something that will hurt people with the hopes of turning weapons into useless paperweights. DON'T SAY IT CAN'T HAPPEN, there are countless states imposing all kinds of regs or outright bans right now, so it is happening the last thing we need is for them to find a backdoor for a major power grab because of a precedent Trump sets now.
Pres Trump would be better off not declaring a National Emergency and instead invoking 10 US Code 284 (b)7 that allows fencing to be built to combat drug trafficking vs declaring Natl Emergency. The law is open-ended where the entire border could be declared a drug trafficking corridor and there's nothing the dems could do about it!
The democrats, and their propagandists in the media, heads will explode IF Pres Trump invokes US law where he DOES NOT need to declare a National Emergency, as many assume he will, to build the border wall/ fence/ barrier!
All the left's Constitutional and legal scholars have been coming out of the woodwork, since the shutdown, claiming POTUS doesn’t have the power to use the National Emergency Act to build the border wall, should Congress not allocate funds for border security. Well they are wrong, he can but he doesn't have to as there is existing law that already allows the military to aid civilian law enforcement agencies!

All parties will agree there is a problem with illegal weapons, human trafficking and drugs coming across the border. For legal experts, these people truly suck as the law couldn't be any more clear, under 10 U.S. Code § 284, through the direction of the Sec of Defense, the military can provide "Support [to law enforcement] for counterdrug activities and activities to counter transnational organized crime." This section of the law literally has a provision under the"(b)Types of Support for Agencies of United States" that allows well, we'll just let you read it for yourselves....

Pres Trump can have the military build the border wall/ fence/ barrier or whatever the hell you want to call it should the dems balk on any border security funding that does not include money towards "The Wall"!
Whether POTUS point this out in his State of the Union address is unknown, but it's safe to assume if he doesn't get the money he wants he's going to use the law to bypass Congress and it will be perfectly legal. Remember back with the Travel Ban they thought they had him, but because Trump invoked existing law, this site pointed out in Dec 2015, the left had nothing to stand on. SCOTUS overruled rogue federal judges trying to interfere with matters of national security and the ban remained in force.
The same court battle will happen again, if Trump goes National Emergency Act or uses 10 U.S. Code § 284, but the end result will be the same - 100% legal!
It's frustrating dealing with the left and right fighting over border security, but rest at ease knowing there is law in place that will ensure it happens. What you need to do is ignore ALL the people on tv. Media figures, political activists, politicians (BOTH sides) as all are just playing games for ratings, revenue and power. Frankly, they are the problem pitting American against American.

Like it or not Pres Trump gave Nancy Pelosi 2 wins this week. The first was his backing off on his State of the Union speech, even though the Speaker emphatically said no to it until after the govt is reopened. Next the Pres agreed to reopen the govt without border funding, but in his announcement to end the shutdown he made it conditional giving Congress 3 weeks to come up with a deal that will secure the border or he will invoke the plenary powers delegated to him.
This partial shutdown resulted in nothing but a lot of people angry, the divide widened and now plenty of vids of Pelosi, Schumer, their propaganda arm media and leftists doing victory laps. On the surface it appears the airlines having problems and major airports announcing imminent closures apparently was too much, not to mention Sec Ross making what many considered a major gaffe.
The odds Congress comes up with an acceptable plan is low. These people have demonstrated time and again they're incompetent. We will see a bill, but it will be loaded with pork, ineffective measures and language restricting where any wall/ barrier/ fence can be raised. That said POTUS will invoke the powers reserved for him, declaring a national emergency to get the wall built. He better have his best people working on that plan and the legalities of it as democrats will most likely challenge in the 9th Circuit Court.
National security should not be something up for debate and negotiating. We have drugs, weapons, potential terrorists, sex slaves etc coming across the border daily in areas where barriers are needed. Agents need updated equipment and resources to protect the homeland democrats clearly do not want to provide. They say they're in favor of borer security, but to date have never explained what that is. They lie to gain public trust and support, the same way they lie that "experts" tell them walls don't work. Fact is democrats want the border left wide open for their future voters to enter.
Trump is playing a dangerous game now. If he doesn't carry threw with his promise to invoke a national emergency where barriers actually go up his 2020 chances for re-election will be cut in half.
