“Iran had a significantly higher number of individuals, of course, at the beginning of this negotiation that they would have liked to have seen released,” one senior Obama administration official told reporters in a background briefing arranged by the White House, adding that “we were able to winnow that down to these seven individuals, six of whom are Iranian-Americans.”
But Obama, the senior official and other administration representatives weren’t telling the whole story on Jan. 17, 2016, in their highly choreographed rollout of the prisoner swap and simultaneous implementation of the six-party nuclear deal, according to a POLITICO investigation.
In his Sunday morning address to the American people, Obama portrayed the seven men he freed as “civilians.” The senior official described them as businessmen convicted of or awaiting trial for mere “sanctions-related offenses, violations of the trade embargo.”
In reality, some of them were accused by Obama’s own Justice Department of posing threats to national security. Three allegedly were part of an illegal procurement network supplying Iran with U.S.-made microelectronics with applications in surface-to-air and cruise missiles like the kind Tehran test-fired recently, prompting a still-escalating exchange of threats with the Trump administration. Another was serving an eight-year sentence for conspiring to supply Iran with satellite technology and hardware. As part of the deal, U.S. officials even dropped their demand for $10 million that a jury said the aerospace engineer illegally received from Tehran.
And in a series of unpublicized court filings, the Justice Department dropped charges and international arrest warrants against 14 other men, all of them fugitives. The administration didn’t disclose their names or what they were accused of doing, noting only in an unattributed, 152-word statement about the swap that the U.S. “also removed any Interpol red notices and dismissed any charges against 14 Iranians for whom it was assessed that extradition requests were unlikely to be successful.”...more

We were told by the obama regime the Syrian govt would surrender/ remove all chemical weapon stockpiles and Russia, who brokered the deal that "stopped" obama from launching attacks, would oversee the process. As for Susan Rice her ability to not tell the truth continues to grow. Speaking with NPR Jan 2017 she stated "We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile."
These people, and others within the obama admin, have either LIED to the American people and world body, or were completely incompetent. If the latter is true God only knows what they have allowed to "slide". At this point, with regards to the Iran Nuclear Deal, it is safe to assume Iran is full steam ahead developing nuclear weapons and delivery systems. As if the news about the obama admin paying a $400M ransom in cash in foreign currency to Iran wasn't bad enough we have now learned the an additional $1.3B in cash was paid too!
The failed arms deal excuse behind this payment is absurd, the Shah fell, the regime we had a deal with in 1979 no longer existed. Furthermore with the proxy war the US has been fighting against Iran since the 70's that money belongs to America over the blood and treasure spilled! Last week after news broke of the $400 million ransom for 4 Americans to be released, one of the hostages, Saeed Abedini, told Fox News they waited for hours at the airport and couldn't leave until the other plane arrived. What could Abendini possibly benefit by telling the truth and helping put the pieces together? A few fucks from tv appearances? The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has struck two secret side deals with the Iranians on their nuclear program which are being kept from Congress. Sen Cotton suggests the White House is aware of this but hasn't released the documents to Congress, who was under the belief they had everything to begin their 60 day review.

One of these side deals concerns inspection of the Parchin military base, where Iran reportedly has conducted explosive testing related to nuclear-warhead development. The Iranian government has refused to allow the IAEA to visit this site. Over the last several years, Iran has taken steps to clean up evidence of weapons-related activity at Parchin.
The other secret side deal concerns how the IAEA and Iran will resolve outstanding issues on possible military dimensions (PMDs) of Iran’s nuclear program. In late 2013, Iran agreed to resolve IAEA questions about nuclear weapons-related work in twelve areas. Iran only answered questions in one of these areas and rejected the rest as based on forgeries and fabrications.

Russia's economy is barely holding on, it is reported they need oil at $140 a barrel to stay a float. Have you seen oil prices as of late? Now couple that with an Iranian deal that allows then to put more oil supplies on the market, you're talking $15-$20 barrel! So you can see Putin's motivation to "help" Iran.

Being a critic and to answer his question: Yes I think this is a trash deal because the sanctions were working. If sanctions were truly enforced the Iranian people may have repeated 2009 Green Revolution but now we'll never know. War is as much possibility today as it will be 2 years or 10 years from now. The Iranians cannot be trusted, Khamenei is on vid saying "Death to America" while one of his generals said "Israel's destruction is non-negotiable" during these talks. All the Iranians are doing is running the clock to appease we the infidels while they continue their weapons program.
Keep in mind this crap deal is made by the same people who made the Bergdahl deal. This is going to create a new arms race in the middle east, the Saudis want a bomb and you can be sure other nations like Jordan who feel threatened will join them after today.
